Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
If you’ve been into hip-hop like me – since the early ’80s – you need to hear this. More than 30 years ago, I was neck-deep in the genre, and let me tell you, if you even dared to suggest a different path, I would’ve laughed in your face. Hip-hop was the way, the truth, the life. Period. But you know how time works. You get older, a little wiser (if lucky), and your ears open up to new sounds. That said, my heart still beats for hip-hop like it did back in the day.
So, when I first heard Blessed New Day by Hollow Profit, it was like stepping into a time machine. Boom – I was back. This track is massive, people. And that’s the beauty of what I do – again and again, I’ll say it: discovering new music is an addiction I never want to kick.
Hollow Profit, straight outta Duluth, Minnesota, is a real one. No gimmicks, no fluff – just raw, honest hip-hop. He teamed up with his long-time homie Nomrah, and together, they’re crafting a sound that mixes storytelling with self-reflection. If you vibe with J. Cole or Kendrick, this one’s for you.
Released on February 7th, 2025, Blessed New Day by Hollow Profit is a lesson wrapped in a beat – talking pride, wisdom, and passing knowledge down to the next generation. Hollow Profit lays it down straight: he’s been through it, learned the hard way, and now he’s got a message for his niece, who’s wrestling with the same demons he faced growing up. It’s gratitude, it’s hope, it’s a gentle push toward something better – served up with a beat that makes your head nod on instinct.
And here’s the kicker: this wasn’t made in some high-end studio with a team of overpaid engineers tweaking every note. Nah. This was built at home, where real music happens. Norah mixed the whole thing himself, and that DIY energy bleeds into every bar, every layer. You can feel it. It’s intimate. It’s real. Oh, and they just opened for Blind Fury in Superior, Wisconsin – so people are paying attention.
Of course, I had to dig deeper. Went back to his early work – his 2021 debut on Muddy II with Nomrah and L.D.N., his first solo track named Costa Rica, in 2022, and the Prelude album from last year. Let me tell you, there’s a golden thread running through it all – a perfect balance between old-school grit and that buttery, jazz-infused hip-hop that flows.
So, here’s what you need to do: look him up. Google his name. Stalk his socials. Hit up his website, Facebook, Instagram, Spotify, YouTube – hell, wherever you get your fix. Hollow Profit is out here putting in the work and trust me; you don’t want to miss what’s next. Peace.
