Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
WIKI PICK returns for round two, with another bunch of independent artists bringing their own sounds, stories and a few surprises along the way. This time, we’re kicking things off with some sharp criticism of the food industry, courtesy of 50mething. So, grab a coffee, turn up the volume, and see what else we’ve got lined up!
Ever wondered how much sugar, salt and other nasty things end up on your plate? Well, 50mething, an independent artist from Ealing, has a few things to say about that. A former professional dancer and cancer survivor, he’s now making music about subjects that matter to him.
His latest single, Make Us Pay For It, takes a cool swing at the food industry and its obsession with profit. Personally, I reckon this one’s worth hearing before your next supermarket trip. Should we be worried? Absolutely. And perhaps it’s time we made ourselves heard!
Here comes RedLight from Marseille, France, with Ten Circles, some good old indie rock with explicit guitars and attitude. Following their 2025 album Homeworks, the guys are back doing what they love, keeping things raw and letting the guitars have their fun.
Did you raise the volume like I did? Meanwhile, the lyrics get into that weird way our minds keep going over the same thoughts, especially when it comes to life and time passing by. Even the colourful, slightly surreal artwork caught my attention! And a round of applause for guitarist Dape, who handles the recording and mixing at their home studio, keeping everything DIY! Proper rock ‘n’ roll, just how I like it!
What a voice! Sweet Gorilla, the solo project of UK musician Pav Sharda, brings us It’s Your Life, a beautiful, melodic track with a lovely touch of Tears for Fears and Talk Talk. Pav has been writing music since 2000, and this one comes from somewhere very personal.
Inspired partly by his brother’s experience with schizophrenia, the song talks about self-doubt, finding courage and moving forward. I particularly love the warmth in his voice and the way the production comes together. Lovely stuff, Pav. Really lovely!
Oh, this is lovely! Ann Winsborn, the Swedish singer-songwriter from Malmö, brings us Kids, a catchy little number with a beautiful melody and a lovely vocal. And she’s got quite a story! Her 2000s dance-pop favourite La La Love On My Mind found a whole new audience across Asia, racking up an estimated two billion streams. Imagine that!
Ann Winsborn‘s been making music since 2002, and I reckon she’s still got plenty to share. As for Kids, I particularly love how naturally everything comes together. Such a pleasure to listen to. Well done, Ann!
Last but certainly not least, Christmas is around the corner, and we’re already making some noise about it! Although, Mark Hargrave from Louisiana has something rather lovely to calm us all down. His latest single, Mary’s Child, featuring Teresa Smith, brings a gentle, warm feeling to the Christmas season.
Mark has spent decades writing music, leading choirs and sharing his faith through songs. He’s certainly in familiar territory here. And I reckon we could all use a little peace between the shopping madness and those endless Christmas preparations. Perhaps we should put the decorations up early this year!
From questioning what’s on our dinner plates to getting us in the Christmas mood, we’ve covered some ground, haven’t we? And that’s a wrap for WIKI PICK #02!
Still in the mood for more music? Hit that play button and tune in to Groover City Radio. We’ve got plenty more good stuff coming your way! We love discovering new music, and we love it even more when you discover what we love!
