Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
In a show of transcendent collaboration, Chicago acid house pioneer DJ Pierre and German trance luminary Paul van Dyk dropped a fresh three-track EP. ‘ACID TRAXXX’ features two individual tracks by the artists. Additionally, a joint title-track involves DJ Pierre’s Phuture group. Such collaborations push the boundaries of electronic music.
In reference to the EP, Van Dyk expressed his admiration for working with DJ Pierre. “Collaborating with DJ Pierre has been an absolute dream. He stands as a foundational figure in music history. He transformed electronic music through transcendent collaboration by ingeniously utilizing the Roland TB-303.“
“We aimed to craft a track that pays homage to the origins of electronic music while simultaneously pushing boundaries. We are guiding listeners through an innovative sonic voyage,” he added, highlighting the transcendent collaboration that shaped the creative process.
ACID TRAXXX was released on October 13, just prior to the Amsterdam Dance Event. Both artists discussed the new record with Mixmag’s Megan Townsend during the event. They recounted their transcendent collaboration experience using a Roland TB-303 to create the original acid sound. Van Dyk reflected, “I don’t think I’ve produced that many records without a 303. Thanks to Roland, who developed this machine. It was, at the time, very reasonably priced and accessible.“
Furthermore, in December, Van Dyk announced the launch of his new event series, VENTURE X, which travelled across the globe in 2023, making stops in Montreal, London, Amsterdam, New York, and more.
“Diverse aspects of music, encompassing various genres and tonalities, have always been integral to my performances,” he explained to Billboard. “With VENTURE X, I take this concept even further—the set will define itself.“
