Elvis Guetta Kicks Off His Production Career With The Boss on Defected

Elvis Guetta The Boss

Well, here’s an interesting debut! Elvis Guetta has teamed up with the legendary James Brown (musically speaking, of course!) for The Boss, out Friday, 6 November, through Defected Records.

Taking on a James Brown classic for your very first release is one hell of a way to tell everyone, “I’m here, and I’m ready to kick some arse!”

And here’s a little history worth digging up. James Brown originally recorded The Boss for the soundtrack of the 1973 film Black Caesar. More than half a century later, Elvis Guetta has given the old Boss a new job, this time on the dance floor. Yeap, retirement was never part of the plan.

Elvis Guetta has clearly developed a taste for digging through older records, and I can’t help thinking of the good old gold rush, only this time the treasure is heading straight for today’s dance floors. With this one, Elvis has brought a little funk history into the house music world.

I’m really enjoying the vibe of this one, and the extended version is worth checking out too, especially for those who never know when to call it a night!

A Few Big Stages Before the First Single

Elvis grew up in the UK surrounded by hip-hop and electronic music, before Ibiza’s club scene caught his attention. DC10, in particular, played a big part in shaping his musical taste, which now moves between house, minimal tech and tech house.

His first public DJ set came in 2025 at UNVRS in Ibiza. Not exactly a small place to start! Since then, he’s appeared at Ushuaïa Ibiza, Stade de France and Touquet Music Beach Festival, making 2026 a pretty busy year behind the decks.

And Now, The Boss!

This one is full of character, with a laid-back feel that somehow still invites you onto the dance floor. The track has already picked up support from Black Coffee, among others, which isn’t a bad way to kick off a discography.

So, with the DJ gigs rolling and his first record finally out, Elvis Guetta has plenty to look forward to. Happy to see another young talent coming through with so much grit and character, and I’d encourage everyone to keep an eye on him. I’ve got a feeling there’s plenty more to come. The Boss‘s already in the building!
