The Lunar Keys EVERYTHING

I keep thinking about that very human habit: we get one thing, then immediately start licking the window for the next one. I wish I could say I’m innocent in all this, but my track record tells a different story. Bigger phone. Higher dream. Bigger panic sandwich with extra sauce. The Lunar Keys understand that soup very well, and their latest release EVERYTHING throws itself straight into the middle of it.

EVERYTHING and modern panic

Released on Monday, 15 June, under the next new super moon, EVERYTHING starts with a simple question. What happens when wanting more becomes our full-time occupation? The Lunar Keys pull apart one of our favourite pastimes: asking life for twelve desserts, three careers, two holidays a year and a brand-new phone. Then acting surprised when indigestion arrives. Are we those people wanting everything at once, feeding on restless adrenaline, then calling the collapse ambition? Hell yeah, we are.

That lyric, “Pick up your face, pick up your phone… Can you hear it coming?”probably deserves an apology from half of us. I like that line, slightly rude to the soul. Nobody gets away clean here. We’ve all opened the fridge three times hoping a better future had appeared since the last visit. We’ve all checked the phone for something that wasn’t there five minutes earlier.

The Lunar Keys with Brendan Dekora

This song marks the band’s second collaboration with Grammy-winning producer and mix engineer Brendan Dekora, known for work linked with Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, and Muse. The Lunar Keys come from Guildford, where JC, Dom, Lexi and The Steve appear to have found a productive use for their collective restlessness.

A quick glance at the numbers tells its own story: hundreds of reviews, over 600,000 views and streams, over 7,000 radio plays from 475 stations, plus support from Planet Rock, BBC Wales, Amazing Radio, and BBC Introducing, where five of their songs earned Track of the Day.

The Part I Like Most

That’s the part that deserves a tip of the hat. The Lunar Keys have spent years connecting their releases with causes that matter. For EVERYTHING, they pledge £1 to Shelter for each of the first 250 reviews or airplays. Maybe it’s age, maybe it’s experience, but these days I pay attention to things like that.

Their next gig takes place in Stoke Newington, London, on June 21st. There’s your chance to see them live, so grab your tickets here. EVERYTHING will still be waiting on the streaming platforms afterwards, and the fridge will still be there when you get back anyway.

Follow The Lunar Keys through their Linktree HERE – because apparently wanting EVERYTHING now includes clicking one tidy little button.
