TJ Wagoner Time Will Only Show You

You know what’s funny about life? We make all these plans, thinking we’ve got everything sorted out. Then something happens, someone walks away, or love decides to take an unexpected holiday. And there we are, scratching our heads, wondering what the hell comes next. Should we laugh? Panic? Have another coffee? I suppose it depends on how much trouble we’re in.

Anyway, that’s roughly where TJ Wagoner takes us with Time Will Only Show You, released on August 7, 2026.

Some Things Are Hard to Explain

TJ comes from Phoenix, Arizona, where he works a regular blue-collar job and spends much of his free time making music in his bedroom. He writes the songs, plays the instruments, records everything and handles production himself. I feel this. I also can imagine the neighbours have developed some interesting opinions by now.

His influences include Television, The Beatles, Pixies and a broad bit of garage rock. You can hear that love for guitars in this track. There’s a groovy, slightly rough-around-the-edges feel to the playing, and TJ himself admits he had a good time recording those parts. Actually, I think that enjoyment comes through pretty naturally.

Love and Luck, Those Two Troublemakers

One particular line caught my attention: “love and luck have a nasty habit of leaving without warning, taking without asking.” Quite true, TJ. And they could at least leave a note hanging on the fridge.

The song wanders through those familiar small disasters that life sometimes throws at us. People change, and not always in a good way. Relationships take unexpected turns, and sometimes we only understand what happened when it’s too late.

Then I love how TJ brings things back to a simple thought in the chorus: love needs looking after. Makes sense to me, and probably to many of you too. Even the strongest relationships need somebody to water them occasionally, metaphorically speaking.

What’s Next for TJ?

TJ Wagone‘s currently writing and recording more material. The man’s getting ready for his first solo performance and looking into writing songs for other artists. And his advice? Keep pursuing whatever you love doing.

I can get behind that. After all, tomorrow might have other plans for us, and apparently nobody bothered to send the schedule in advance.
