Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
I bet everyone who throws themselves into love with depth and dedication expects the same weight back from the other side. Fair deal, right? You bring the heart, the patience, the emotional groceries. Then comes the nasty little “but.” What happens when the support you gave never comes back? Tahani raises her eyes, shakes her head, and answers with Don’t Come Knocking.
The song speaks for every person who got treated like a useful object. The good news is that I know how to tackle this song, because I’ve been there. The bad news? It hurts. To be there when needed, ignored when broken, then suddenly remembered when the sun starts shining again. Lovely little circus, that one.
Hailing from Coleford, in the Forest of Dean, Tahani builds her sound from a home studio, working remotely with Liverpool producer Dan Scholes, also known as DSM. Their partnership started through TikTok last summer. It sounds almost too modern to trust, but here we are – with a country-pop anthem that comes out angry in its message, and amazingly refined in its studio work.
Influences from Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, and Carrie Underwood run through the track, but Tahani puts her own fingerprints all over it. The chorus is impressive, the kind you scream while wiping the last tear and deleting a number from your contacts.
Born during a summer fireworks writing session, Don’t Come Knocking goes from hurt to full-chest trust. The vocals do serious damage, especially the adlibs, recorded off the top of her head with no rehearsed safety net. And when you’re able to do this with ease, then all is good – you’re on the right path as an artist.
I like this song, and a big part of that comes from the vocals. Sometimes the best vocal moments show up like a drunk aunt at a wedding. No one expects it, but in the end, everybody approves and embraces the moment. Bad news for the suckers, good news for Tahani: artistically, she grows. And with this latest release, she burns the bridge, locks the door, and keeps the key. Whoever left when support mattered can enjoy the pavement.
Step into Tahani’s treehouse for more – she’s already up there, stacking songs, rolling her eyes, and letting the right ones climb in.
