Stamina LEYO & Thierry Ganz

Amsterdam has done a lot to dance music over the years. Some good, some slightly mental, some probably responsible for people losing a few weekends completely. LEYO comes from that world.

He was one of the founding members of Yellow Claw, so trap was a big part of his story for years. Then he moved into his own lane and started digging deeper into house music instead. Hail Mary for this kind of switch. And judging by what followed, house treated him pretty well. Now he links up again with Thierry Ganz for Stamina, and this time they’re making their Defected debut.

LEYO and the long road to house

Since stepping out under his own name, LEYO has been busy. His debut album Hello came out in 2024, then the Circus EP followed in 2025, and Fuego arrived in 2026. Those releases already clocked up millions of streams, so this latest one comes after quite a bit of work behind the scenes. And I think that matters.

People sometimes see a big label name and think everything happened overnight. Yeap… probably in some fancy dreams after a few drinks. Usually there are years of studio sessions, unfinished ideas, and probably many moments staring at the screen wondering why the bass sounded better yesterday. I may know a thing or two about that last one.

Enter Thierry Ganz

Thierry Ganz has been part of that journey too. The two have worked together several times already, so Stamina comes to life as the fruit of their shared love for house music. Thierry has also been building his own name through collaborations with some of Amsterdam’s newer talent, especially with those vocal hooks that make life feel worth living again – at least for the next four minutes.

Stamina gets straight to the point

The first thing I noticed with Stamina is the groove. There’s a strong bass hook running through it, then Thierry’s vocal giving the track that soulful lift we all love. Bills still exist, but for four minutes we move on. It’s clearly made for the club, but I’d happily take this groove pretty much anywhere.

That’s probably where the chemistry between LEYO and Thierry Ganz helps most. And then there’s Defected. For someone moving deeper into house music, that’s a pretty serious door to walk through. Stamina now puts LEYO and Thierry Ganz on one of the biggest house labels around – Amsterdam doing Amsterdam things again.

Stamina by LEYO and Thierry Ganz is out today, 4 September, through Defected Records.

That’s a healthy sign.
