Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
When I was younger, I thought age came like a stamp on the forehead. One day you woke up, looked in the mirror, and there it was: a number, a verdict. Years later, life taught me something far more useful. Age builds flavour. Believe me, it roughens the edges in the right places. Comes with stories in the voice, weight in the hands, and truth in the choices. Did I just said choices?
That is exactly where Aging Disgracefully meets me with Blues Get Better With Age.
Karen Pyra and Mike Elliott come from Shelburne, Nova Scotia, and they actually live inside the weather. They first connected at a songwriting workshop, both already coming up with their own records, their own roads, their own bruises. From that meeting came a creative partnership that found its first public spark in Holiday Tangle, and it kept growing with backbone. Actually, their name says enough before anything else. Aging Disgracefully throws a grin at ageism, and gets on with the business of making songs with substance.
Blues Get Better With Age gets straight to work. I was glad to find that blues-rock detour, some expressive guitar work, and the kind of vocal character that comes from singers who know what they’re doing. Karen’s voice has soul and grit in equal measure, while Mike gives the song presence through guitar and vocal texture. Together, they keep it tight and meaningful.
At the heart of the song is a simple idea: time deepens passion, sharpens identity, and gives a person the nerve to stand by their own story. I like that. I like it because it skips the perfume and gets straight to the skin. In a world that runs on speed, gloss, and shallow panic, this song breathes experience and honesty. It chooses the long road, where people love, lose, rebuild. That spirit gives the single its real touch. Resilience – that’s what it is. Self-knowledge too. I respect that.
Aging Disgracefully stand on solid ground here. Their work has earned serious recognition, including Best Original Song at the 2025 Round the Globe Film and Music Festival, finalist placement in the InterContinental Music Awards blues category, a place among Canada’s top 29 blues albums for Shatter the Mirror, and a 2026 East Coast Music Award nomination for Blues Release of the Year. Add the recent honourable mention from the Music in Motion Awards, and you get the clear picture.
Blues Get Better With Age also opens the gate for their upcoming EP, Vintage Love, due this spring. That title already hints at where they are heading: love stretched across years, loss, resilience. Across defiance, memory, within that emotional weather that leaves landmarks worth writing about. Frankly, I’m glad somebody still makes music. I mean… music.
Aging Disgracefully understand something that plenty of younger acts still chase in circles: A song works when it’s clear. And Blues Get Better With Age knows exactly what it is. For anyone who has earned a few scars and kept moving anyway, this is a good strong thump. Now, if you’re still reading this instead of pressing play, we need to fix that. Go on – give it a spin, let it do its thing.
You’ll find Aging Disgracefully on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and their official website – I’ll leave the doors open, you just walk in.
