Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
Never thought levitating could be something to keep me awake and feed me with inspiration. But here I am, long after midnight, replaying Levitate by The Trusted.
You know me already — I’m a nightbird. This song feels as alive as I am at this late hour, just like The Lightning did back when I first fell into their sound. Alive in that rare way — shaped by real moments and the weight of experience. I know that feeling — the warmth that comes when people play what they live.
Four lads from Southend-on-Sea — Tom and Fin Cunningham, Dale Holt-Mead, and David Batchelor. Same stubborn air, same devotion to real instruments. In the meantime, they’ve done the grind: over 300 shows, two Italian tours, BBC Introducing stages, and a live slot on Jo Whiley’s Radio 2 show. That kind of mileage tells a story — one that you don’t shake off easily.
Produced by Rees Broomfield, the track starts with warped synths climbing upward, making your humble square selfie go widescreen. Everything falls into place, and Tom’s voice stretches through it all — and really, how do you stay on the ground after that? He once said it’s “a love song where everything is spinning out of control, when you lose track of who you are and where you’re going.” That line sits in my head — because it reminds me how love and chaos often share the same breath.
They call themselves punchy, cinematic, honest — and yeah, that fits for me. Because I can feel them walking that fine line between post-punk tension and a pop reach. You can hear echoes of The Verve or early Arctic Monkeys, but it never sounds borrowed. The Trusted developed a way of writing that keeps the human part in focus. And you know why? Because they come from rooms where sweat and feedback are still part of the process.
When the chorus comes, I catch myself repeating it — “I’m hungry for you baby, don’t make me disappear.” It’s simple, direct, a line that it’s there for reasons I can’t fully explain. Later, when he sings ‘I wanna levitate, I will not hesitate,’ I’m already in. I stop typing for a second, just to let it play out.
Online, The Trusted story is catching up with their live reputation: 1.5 million streams, BBC Radio 1 support, viral energy on TikTok where Millennium passed half a million plays, and Self Destruct at more than 130 thousand. And trust me, numbers only show the surface. What keeps people close to The Trusted is the connection — that almost invisible line between stage and crowd.
Each show they play seems to leave something behind. A memory, a heartbeat, a reason to come back. And Levitate carries that same intent, simply trying to reach. I keep the track looping while writing this, and there’s a small truth in it — sometimes the best songs don’t explain much. The Trusted just remind me that feeling alive is enough.
It’s your turn now — make yourself alive and follow these guys on their socials: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify. For the same reason that, this time, we can actually explain.
