Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
In life, I learned that giving a gift matters almost as much as knowing how to receive one. A flower works. A little box of chocolates works. Even a nice bag of dishwasher pods works – and don’t laugh, I got that one directly from life itself. Then sometimes Defected comes along and drops something through the letterbox that makes the dishwasher pods look slightly underdressed.
Natural Blues brings Moby, Jacob Lusk, BLOND:ISH and Kiko Franco together for one rather beautiful gift, born from a viral Coachella moment and reviving a tune many of us already have permanently installed somewhere in the brain.
The story already had serious mileage. Defected’s 2025 reworking of Natural Blues reached No.1 on Beatport’s House chart and crossed 10 million streams across DSPs, while radio stations and major editorial playlists kept it moving worldwide. Of course, the roots travel much further back.
Moby built the original Natural Blues around Vera Hall’s 1937 recording Trouble So Hard, and that voice still holds the same human weight decades later: Don’t nobody know my trouble but God.

Then Coachella changed the next chapter. BLOND:ISH and Jacob Lusk shared the stage, the performance travelled rapidly online, and listeners started asking for an official version. Lusk later described those ten minutes as something that “completely changed my life.” I can understand the reaction. His voice gives the song a powerful gospel edge.
For Natural Blues (TECIE), BLOND:ISH keeps those uplifting piano flourishes and bright synths at the centre, while Kiko Franco pushes the arrangement forward with melodic Afro house energy. Meanwhile, Jacob Lusk pours plenty of gospel soul into those familiar vocal lines.
That combination works beautifully. There’s some sadness in the DNA, yep, I can hear it too. But the production keeps reaching upward, and then the whole feel goes boom. Jacob Lusk himself connects the song with loneliness, togetherness and the reminder that “everything is actually going to be okay.” Hakuna Matata. Somehow, with a proper house groove around it, that thought suddenly makes perfect sense.

Kiko Franco calls working on the legendary track “mind-blowing,” and fair enough, really. Everyone involved seems to understand the material, then brings something personal to the table without trying to steal the whole bloody show. That’s what I love to see.
Here comes the pleasantly weird bit. TECIE connects this version of Natural Blues with an upcoming original movie of the same name, centred around a Gen-Z romance within Los Angeles’ animal-rights and activism scene. The actual meaning behind the acronym remains tucked away until November. Fine. I can wait. Probably.
Until then, head here, follow Moby, Jacob Lusk, BLOND:ISH and Kiko Franco down the Natural Blues rabbit hole, and stick around – there’s always more music to discover.
