Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
Four artists, four different musical directions, and a fresh selection of tracks worth exploring. We’ve gathered a little something from across the musical spectrum, bringing together different styles, stories and creative personalities. Have a listen, follow your curiosity, and see what catches your ear.
Born in Cabo Verde and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts, Tru2it, real name Adilson Neves, has quite a story to tell. Currently serving a life sentence, he recorded I Grew Up (Jailed in America) through a prison phone, alongside Danisia and Lil Zai. The track reflects on his past, the consequences of his choices and his journey towards accountability and change. Inspired by Roger Ross Williams’ documentary Jailed in America, the song also supports a victim-centred organisation, with proceeds pledged to the cause. A powerful story behind an equally personal release.
At just 16, Vienna-based Stella Maria is already making some interesting moves in pop music. Having started singing at ten, she’s now working with Norwegian producer Martin Kleveland and Bulgarian artist Eva Parmakova, with a debut album planned for 2027. Her latest release, Tables Turned, brings another track into her growing catalogue, with a contemporary pop sound and a touch of country flavour. There’s plenty happening behind the scenes for this young songwriter, and it’ll be interesting to hear how her sound develops as the album takes shape.
UK DJ and producer Mr Kavalicious brings some club energy into our selection with Brooklyn Squad, released on Sinister Recs. Running at 125 BPM, the track sits comfortably in tech-house territory, with a clear focus on the dancefloor. Mr Kavalicious has been building his catalogue across several electronic labels, and this latest release continues that club-oriented direction. There’s an extended mix available for DJs, too. One for the house crowd, and a welcome change of pace among the different sounds we’re bringing together here.
British singer-songwriter Kate Gee brings a little folk into our selection with You Are the One (in My Dreams), accompanied by The Kate Gee Band. Kate has been making music for years, with a style that moves comfortably between folk, blues and roots influences. Her expressive voice has earned praise over the years, particularly for the feeling she brings to her performances. There’s a lovely sense of musical experience behind this project. Kate and her band clearly know their way around a song, and that experience comes through in the music. Give this one a listen.
We’re wrapping things up with a serious dose of energy from American artist Jairic, who teamed up with Australian dance duo NERVO for a remix of Don’t Let Me Put a Track on You. Originally rooted in hip-hop, the track gets a full club makeover, with pounding techno rhythms and plenty of energy. Released through Rich Air Music, this 155 BPM beast brings together Jairic‘s genre-crossing approach and NERVO‘s dancefloor experience. Quite a way to finish our little musical trip! Turn it up, and give the neighbours something to talk about.
