The Ringer Soundtrack Voicemail

When the line keeps ringing

I know that feeling too well: you call, you wait, and somewhere between hope and pride, the line drops you into that cold machine. That’s where Voicemail begins. This is the latest release of the The Ringer Soundtrack, or a quick free lesson on how to turn that moment into something bright and weirdly comforting.

The Boston trio – Mick Coyne, Brandon Forbes Dalrymple, and Ross Goodwin – tap into the old pain of trying again when you already know the story. Still, people call. People wait. And that tension gives this song its core. The hook comes quick, the guitars splashes with colour, and the rhythm makes the whole thing feel alive from the first minute.

The glow of old phones and open wounds

What grabbed me here is the way Voicemail plays with nostalgia. And the clever thing is that they are not getting trapped inside it. The band pull in disco bass, modern indie guitar lines, glossy pop instincts, and that bittersweet phone-booth mood from the single artwork. It leans on memory, sure – but I hear it right here, right now, like it’s happening again.

The lyrics keep things direct and human. “Every time I call you, I just get your voicemail” says everything it needs to say. Repetition does the job here. I feel obsession, longing, frustration, and that strange habit of touching the wound just to check whether it still hurts.

Locking back into its own chemistry

There’s also a strong story behind the recording. The trio wrote, produced, mixed, and mastered this one in-house. Ross Goodwin handled the production, while the whole band leaned into the chemistry they built over years of friendship and collaboration. That gives Voicemail a natural shape and a lived-in heart.

You might know me from my writing – I always go for songs that catch small moments like this. Voicemail takes one of the smallest – a missed call, a beep, a silence – and turns it into a glowing indie alt-pop wound you’ll probably play again. Find The Ringer Soundtrack on Instagram, Spotify, YouTube, and Bandcamp – press play and let it ring a little longer.
