Snow Patrol has announced a new album, The Forest Is The Path, marking their return after a six-year hiatus. The iconic band, known for their hit Chasing Cars, is now set for a 2025 UK & Ireland tour. This new album and tour bring together Gary Lightbody, Nathan Connolly, and Johnny McDaid, following the departure of drummer Jonny Quinn and bassist Paul Wilson last September. Their lead single, The Beginning, is the first release from “The Forest Is The Path.“

Accompanying the new music, Snow Patrol has also revealed dates for a UK and Ireland tour starting in 2025. Gary Lightbody, the band’s only remaining original member, shared insights into the creative process, saying, “The first day we wrote ‘The Beginning,’ start to finish. And he did the vocal in one take,” added Johnny McDaid, highlighting the raw, emotive quality of the song. Snow Patrol, who started in the early ’90s, achieved major success in 2006 with “Eyes Open” and the timeless hit Chasing Cars.

Despite never topping the charts, Chasing Cars is the UK’s 26th most downloaded song and has been named the most-played song of the 21st century. The Forest Is The Path, set for release on September 13, serves as a follow-up to 2018’s Wildness. Produced by the band and Fraser T Smith, known for his work with Adele and Stormzy, the album features 12 introspective tracks.
In a statement, the album is described as “rooted in reflection, introspection, and interrogation.” Gary Lightbody delved into his inspiration, noting. “I haven’t been in a relationship for a very long time. 10 years or more. So love from a distance to me meant the way a relationship sits in your memory. From a distance of, say, 10 years.” He compared this experience to viewing the Empire State Building. From different vantage points, symbolizing the change in perspective over time.

Snow Patrol new album 2024 – This theme permeates the album, with Lightbody explaining, “It’s a way of looking at various mistakes. Any pain I may have caused, from a place where nothing is hurting anymore. Except the memory when you pull it back into your mind. The memory itself is full of hurt but everything around it isn’t. You’re holding in your hand this ball of fire, but now you’ve got gloves on.”
The new album “The Forest Is The Path” and 2025 UK & Ireland tour. Snow Patrol’s tour will feature eight arena shows, including a performance at The O2 in London on February 15, 2025. Fans who pre-order The Forest Is The Path from Snow Patrol’s store will receive access to a tour pre-sale. Tickets will be available for pre-sale on June 5 at 10 am, with general sale starting on June 7 at 10 am.
