Laughing Cats Ignite Indie Pop with “Love On Fire” – DIY Heat You Can Dance To

Venus might still be out of reach for humankind, but Love On Fire gets close if you’ve got decent headphones and a halfway-beating heart. Laughing Cats – yes, those retro-fuelled renegades we already met on Jerk and GYB – are back. This thing fizzes like cola and rum poured over the speakers – wild, bright, and made to move.

From the album Funny Money, Love On Fire bursts out like it’s got somewhere to be and no patience left. The synths are screaming in color and the beat moves fast, like it knows the cops might show up. Lauren Schiff delivers every word with a look-you-dead-in-the-eye confidence that keeps its spine straight. Loud, glossy, a little dangerous. The kind of track that spills its drink on your shoes and keeps dancing anyway.

Tony Fredianelli lays down production that knows exactly where you’re vulnerable. It’s pop, yeah, but not the algorithm-chasing kind. This is pop with teeth and hips. With some actual bold personality. I’ve listened to enough tracks that sound like someone trying to please a Spotify playlist. Love On Fire by Laughing Cats doesn’t care what mood filter you clicked, it’s already dancing on your kitchen table.

The Video? Shot, Cut, and Conquered

Let’s talk video. Because in a world stuffed with rented Lambos and “aesthetics,” Schiff went and did the unthinkable: made something real. Directed, shot, edited, and produced on a five-grand budget – probably less than what some PR intern spends on cold brew each month.

And it works. God, it works. The whole thing bursts like a neon dream that remembers it’s also an indie hustle. There’s no auto-pilot here. Just raw creativity, stitched together with vision, risk, and a little caffeine madness. It skips the whole MTV-to-Cannes circus and lands somewhere better – raw, honest, and completely its own. You want proof artists still give a damn about their craft? Here it is – filmed, edited, and delivered with glitter still under the fingernails.

Funny Money Never Sounded So Smart

We’ve been tracking Funny Money since the early drops, and the picture’s getting clearer. GYB was the warning shot. Jerk came in like a retro slap. But Love On Fire? That’s the dance anthem with no off switch.

Laughing Cats make the kind of music that feels worn-in, like it’s carrying stories with the volume turned up. They dress up heartbreak in leather and sequins, slap on a synth hook, and give it a second life. Schiff brings theatre, brains, and brass. Fredianelli brings the muscle memory of big stages and big sounds. Together, they make songs that flirt, sting, and sweat.
