Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
It’s so nice when you’re having your morning coffee and looking out for new music, then a turbulent bass pops up and starts tickling your speakers along with the desk they’re sitting on. I mean… the coffee slowly slides into second place because the song I’d like to introduce today wins that unplanned little battle.
The culprit this time is Disco Dreams with OutLands, the first single from his upcoming second studio album. And yes, my desk survived.
Disco Dreams found electronic music early, drawn particularly to psychedelic melodies and those little worlds they can create inside your head. From there, he began exploring pop-focused electronica, combining some retro textures with actual production elements, then gradually shaping his own colourful corner of electronic music.
So the spatial trip started like a rollercoaster through synth-shaped worlds, dancefloor attitude and a slightly more introspective angle of electronic production. With all that in mind, we can only imagine what his upcoming album, GoodTime, will sound like. Oh, my poor desk and speakers… I have a feeling OutLands was only the warm-up.
OutLands opens this chapter after roughly a year and a half of work. All that work refining the Disco Dreams sound and gathering the resources needed to build the project is clearly paying off. The production has some weight behind it. By this point my desk had joined the performance, so I figured switching to headphones might save us both some trouble.
Personally, I like electronic tracks that create an actual place in my head. OutLands does just that, especially if you decide to slide over to the little bonus the artist included. That slowed and reverbed version is highly appreciated from my side. Different trip, same ticket. Behind all the synths and bass, however, Disco Dreams keeps a simple philosophy. Use music to spread creativity, peace and love when the outside world gets nasty.
OutLands arrived on August 7 and begins the road toward GoodTime. From my side, I feel like the good time is already here, somewhere between these electronic worlds and my desk, which somehow still accepts me after all those bass kicks and written lines.
What I’d suggest you do is follow Disco Dreams through his portal here, then slightly adjust that volume knob and give your desk something to worry about. Consider justice served.
