Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
UK band The Horn released their captivating single “Passion” in 2022 – a track rooted in the vibrant 1980s music scene that still lands with force today. We recently stumbled upon this gem online and immediately felt the pull. That discovery led us deep into their backstory, where The Horn’s devotion to music became unmistakably clear.
Nick True, the band’s frontman, led the release with purpose. Years ago, he supported R.E.M. during a key era in rock history. Today, “Passion” brings a lively indie-rock experience, built on layered melodies and smooth vocal flows. Its sound design stands out boldly, asserting its unique flair without hesitation.
The Horn’s current lineup includes Jonny Taylor on vocals and guitar, Danny Monk on guitars and programming, Nick True on bass, Ed Cox on keyboards, and Alex Moorse on drums. Together, they sculpt a distinctive mid-Atlantic sound, each member pouring fuel on the fire of their shared Passion.
Their path to this formation came through creative twists. Jonny, Danny, and Kingston-born drummer Alex Moorse first teamed up in a band called Montrell. Later, they joined forces with Nick and Ed, forming the roots of The Horn as we know them today – a group driven by grit, chemistry, and a clear love for the craft.
Veteran musician Nick True previously played bass and wrote songs for the North London band Friends Of Gavin. The band toured extensively with R.E.M., though they never put out an album. Seeking new sonic ground, Nick invited multi-instrumentalist Danny Monk into the fold. That decision ignited the creative spark that fuels The Horn’s energy today—and reflects True’s relentless drive to keep exploring the edges of The Horn‘s Passion.
Danny Monk blends influences from late ’70s New York No Wave and art-rock pioneers like Television, injecting a sharp mid-Atlantic flavour into the band’s sound. His guitar work in “Passion” harnesses the raw punch of The Strokes and the Ramones, while tipping the hat to the dreamy textures of The Cure and Blossoms. Every note adds to The Horn’s bold musical identity.
Mix engineer Rich Turvey, known for his work with The Coral and Courteeners, brings “Passion” into full focus. His mix sharpens the edges, adds depth, and drives home the track’s indie-rock heartbeat. It’s a clean fit with The Horn’s layered, unapologetic sound—built not just for listening, but for feeling.
The Horn premiered the official lyric video for “Passion” on June 22, 2022. On July 14th, they’ll hit the stage at Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney – offering a live dose of their signature energy and, of course, plenty of passion.
Looking ahead, fans can also catch the band in the upcoming film A Matter Of Life And Death, hitting cinemas around Christmas.
Grab your tickets and gear up for a live show that brings The Horn’s newest material to life – loud, proud, and loaded with their unmistakable Horn‘s Passion.
