Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
I’ll admit I went back to the documentary on purpose. It had been on my list for a while, but Otim’s Dreaming of You hit fast-forward on the decision – and here we are. That final scene kept popping back into my head. It pushed this track into motion.
Before anything else, it’s worth being clear about the reference point. This is about Selena Quintanilla, not Selena Gomez. The inspiration comes from the Tejano singer’s story and the way her life and voice are framed in the documentary’s closing moments. That distinction matters, because the emotion here comes from legacy and loss, rather than pop mythology.
This remix of Dreaming of You started as a response to that moment – a personal reaction rather than a replay. Otim took what Selena’s story left behind and shaped it in their own way. And believe me, there’s patience in how the song evolved. The mood wrapped the senses, allowing reflection to do the job instead of pushing for resolution.
Working out of North London, Otim reshapes modern R&B through electronic textures and subtle disruption. Soulful melodies sit alongside fractured beats, and there’s a kind of motion that feels unsettled in a familiar way. I’d play this on my own and let it run from start to finish, without checking the time.
Otim’s music grows from lived experience. As a black, disabled producer, sound becomes adaptation and survival as much as expression. That reality shows up in the choices made here. And honestly, unofficial or not, Otim knows how to go loud. At the end of 2025, Jump Around and Flip Dat already made that clear – both releases put some real pressure on my speakers.
Find out more about Otim by following his trail on Instagram, X, Spotify, and YouTube, where the rest of the work is already waiting.
