Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
ILLENIUM takes position against drugs as he gears up for the release of his self-titled fifth album.
He’s teaming up with End Overdose, a nonprofit named one of EDM’s top industry leaders in 2022, to educate fans on how to recognize overdose signs and administer Naloxone – an opiate overdose reversal treatment – throughout his upcoming tour.
ILLENIUM survived a near-fatal heroin overdose in 2012. Since then, he’s channeled his energy into protecting the same community that supported him during his darkest times. His journey reflects not just survival but a deep commitment to giving back.
He continues to foster a safer, more supportive environment for others who may be facing similar struggles – driven by gratitude and a desire to be a source of strength. His experiences fuel this mission and anchor his resolve to make a real difference.
In a Zoom interview with EDM.com, he opens up: “My story is different. I wasn’t someone who just went to a festival and accidentally took the wrong drug. I was addicted to opiates.” He recalls hitting rock bottom – after multiple failed treatments and a fractured sense of self – before finally reaching a turning point.
“I was so powerless at that point that I was willing to do whatever I could,” he says. “Didn’t want to lose my family. I wanted to love myself eventually, I wanted to care. Music did that for me massively. That’s why I started making music. That’s why I got so obsessed with electronic music.“
