Emily Goldberg, Former Girlfriend of DJ Avicii, Passes Away at 34

Emily Goldberg, formerly in a relationship with the renowned EDM DJ Avicii, passed away in La Jolla, California, at the age of 34. Her death in April was due to a pulmonary embolism. This information was stated in her online obituary.

Born in Poway, Emily Goldberg grew up in La Jolla where she attended La Jolla Country Day School. She also played cello in the San Diego Youth Symphony. Moreover, she was deeply passionate about art, photography, both American and Japanese wrestling, and animals.

She completed her education at George Washington University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History in 2012. Following her graduation, Emily Goldberg travelled internationally with an EDM music tour. Later, she worked in event planning and social media marketing at the Wynn Encore Hotel in Las Vegas.

Her relationship with Avicii, whose real name was Tim Bergling, became known after his untimely death in 2018. Avicii was celebrated for his 2013 hit “Wake Me Up” – which became the highest certified dance/electronic song in RIAA history. Goldberg revealed that they had dated for two years. She shared this in a heartfelt tribute posted on her Instagram following his passing.

In May 2023, Emily Goldberg announced on Instagram that she had been battling cancer for the past year but was officially declared cancer-free.

She is survived by her parents, Julie and Sam Goldberg of La Jolla, and her brother, Aaron Goldberg, of Chicago, Illinois. A private memorial service is planned. This was noted in her obituary.
