Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
Scientists said that breakups often leave people feeling like the only survivor of a small emotional shipwreck. Then somebody writes a song about the same mess, and suddenly the things are getting back on track: the wreck has snacks, company and a lovely chorus. The thing is… a breakup song can validate the feelings we struggle to explain. Slightly macabre entertainment, perhaps, but surprisingly useful.
Eileen Carey and This Is Where find the point where one story ends and another one begins. The relationship has finished, but the people inside it still have the love and courage for whatever comes next.
The opening catches that moment when somebody from your past appears inside a stranger’s face: “I thought I saw you today / I forgot time’s gone by.” Funny how memories never seem to get the update. From there, Eileen Carey looks back with acceptance rather than regret. “You probably don’t look the same / The way you do in my mind” accepts that both people have changed.
Meanwhile, the chorus turns the ending around with one simple thought: “This is where we both begin.” I like that idea. Sometimes two people just help each other grow. Then life has other plans and sends them in different directions.
If you ask Eileen Carey to describe her music, she’ll tell you it’s West Coast Pop-Country. She comes from Altadena, CA, and she’s found a pretty comfortable place where country stories and pop hooks go hand in hand. Her singles Land with You and Good Bad Girl have topped radio charts, while her wider career now includes over 25 awards and performances across nearly 80 notable venues.
In 2025, the New Music Awards named her AC/Hot AC Breakthrough Artist, while the Independent Music Network awarded her Entertainer of the Year. She has also shared stages with Don McLean, Rita Coolidge, Jefferson Starship and The Motels. Her live shows bring line dancing, singalongs and standing ovations, which sounds considerably healthier than staring into a pint.
“I try to give people a different way of thinking about the world and their role in it. I want them to focus on the positive aspects of life. I genuinely believe that very good things will happen for them if they do.” – Eileen Carey
Beyond the stage, Eileen Carey works as a Joe Blasco Cosmetics beauty ambassador and runs The Music Mom blog, sharing her thoughts on motherhood, wellness and creativity. This Is Where for sure brings that same forward motion. “If you never try, you’ll never find a way” becomes the gentle shove behind the whole song.
