Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
Yeah – hope ahead. I like the idea – something good waits on the other side of whatever mess currently chews your ankles. It might sounds naïve until life spills the drink, but somehow you still get up, ready for another round.
Blueprint Tokyo, the five-piece indie rock band from Oklahoma City, seems to understand that strange little survival ritual. Their new six-song EP Dark New Days, released May 1, 2026, goes straight there: the human bit between damage and decision.
The band builds its sound around strong vocal melodies, dynamic guitars, and a drum section in full motion. A full package that rubs analog warmth against digital edge. That said, diving into this album feels familiar from the first seconds, then slowly overwhelming as the weight of its meaning comes through. On Dark New Days, that mix gets sharper. Orange Tiger opens on a sharp synth line and a restless push from the first seconds, while Here’s Your Story and Just Repeat Myself keep the emotional pressure within reach.
There’s a lesson in these songs: holding on can look foolish from across the road, but inside, it just feels right to keep going. That’s when you repeat yourself, because the words start fighting their own battle – and somehow, they win. You wait for the storm because you already paid for the umbrella, mate.
After their 2025 debut album Neon Circuits and the Mission of Hope, Blueprint Tokyo return with a tighter, more direct release. Nite Valerie, the closing track, brings in that piano intro where “you are everything I need” clears the waters – things slow down, and you can breathe again. Yeah Valerie, sweet Valerie… this one’s yours.
If you’re into that wide indie sound with a bit of synth in it, you’ll get this album. I found myself going back to it more than once. The band mentioned names like The Killers, Coldplay, or Nothing But Thieves when talking about their direction – you can catch a hint of that, but they keep it their own. I kept Dark New Days on repeat – it’s indie rock, a bit rough around the edges, but it just keeps going.
I’ll leave the links now – find Blueprint Tokyo on Facebook, Instagram, Bandcamp, YouTube, and TikTok, take a listen, and go from there.
