Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
Autumn Hollow is back, and they came to burn the place down. The Boston-based band just unleashed “Wooden Wire,” the first taste of their upcoming album Say No More, out May 2nd. A five-minute, electric storm that crackles with raw energy and zero apologies.
Frontman Brendan Murphy delivers every line like a rusted-out switchblade, channelling the ragged spirit of Dylan, Young, and Zevon with his own brand of bruised honesty. Glide Magazine summed it up best: “Hot damn.” That’s it. That’s the review. “Wooden Wire” thrashes and trembles, swerving between roots rock storytelling and a good old-fashioned, turn-it-up-until-your-neighbors-hate-you jam session.
Produced by Murphy and Elio DeLuca at The Soul Shop in Medford, Say No More serves as a rebirth. The new rhythm section, Chuck Vath on bass and Ian McMillan on drums, drives the beat like they stole it. Mike Burke’s lead guitar peels off like molten steel, shaping Autumn Hollow’s shift into something rougher, louder, and undeniably more dangerous.
This record brings a full-blown gang effort. Elio DeLuca (Titus Andronicus) slaps down piano, organ, and synthesizers like he’s scoring a Western saloon brawl. Sarah Leveque adds vocals that cut through the noise like headlights in a storm. Will Ellis Johnson’s pedal steel and Gabriel Hirshfeld’s banjo twist through the mix, adding layers of grit and grace. And Peter Zarkadas? More guitars. More fire.
Mastered by TW Walsh – whose fingerprints are all over records from Nathaniel Rateliff and Fruit Bats – Say No More walks a fine line between an intimate dive bar gig and a full-throttle festival stage moment.
Autumn Hollow’s 2022 EP Throw the House earned them Boston Music Award nominations and glowing praise from The Boston Globe. They have played some of New England’s most storied venues, including The Paradise Rock Club and Club Passim, leaving behind sweat-soaked stages and satisfied crowds.
Murphy is a storyteller, pulling together influences from folk, rock, and even hip hop to craft songs that feel both familiar and unpredictable. As a teacher, he brings lived experience into his lyrics, tackling social themes with sharpness and insight. Say No More keeps its boots in the dirt and its fists in the air, that’s why we like it. Get ready for Say No More on May 2nd, and until then, blast Wooden Wire at full volume. Here on our studio, it’s already kicking down the door.
