Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
Alicia Taylor, Corey Taylor’s wife and a performer with the Cherry Bombs, recently gave fans a glimpse into her Slipknot preferences. When a fan reached out on Twitter asking about her favorite Slipknot albums, Alicia responded with clarity and heart.
“I’m a self-titled girl,” she wrote, referencing the band’s raw and era-defining debut album. But she didn’t stop there. “Iowa is obviously a banger,” she added, giving a shout to one of Slipknot’s most intense records. She also named We Are Not Your Kind (WANYK) as an honourable mention – bridging the band’s early chaos with its more recent evolution.
Corey Taylor, known for his visceral stage presence and vocal command, once shared his thoughts on Slipknot’s discography during a 2015 interview with Noisey – years before We Are Not Your Kind came out. Back then, he also favoured the self-titled album, cementing it as a cornerstone in the band’s legacy.
That period wasn’t just sonically intense – it was personally gruelling. “We broke into the studio to retrieve our master tapes,” Corey recalled, referring to the moment he, producer Ross Robinson, Shawn “Clown” Crahan, and Joey Jordison decided to take full control of the mix. “We were living off 20 bucks a week, hiding our ramen from each other,” he added, painting a picture of sacrifice and obsession. It was never just music – it was survival.
At the time of that interview, Corey placed Iowa in third place and The Gray Chapter in second, aligning with the record’s then-recent release.
In 2024, Slipknot celebrates a milestone – 25 years since the release of their self-titled debut. The band plans to mark the occasion with a hometown blowout. On September 21, Knotfest Iowa will take over Waterworks Park in Des Moines, promising a full day of chaos, catharsis, and community. Fans can expect throwback red jumpsuits, a nod to the original aesthetic that launched Slipknot into the stratosphere.
Whether she’s touring with the Cherry Bombs or cheering from the side-lines, Alicia Taylor continues to show deep appreciation for Slipknot’s discography. Her perspective – especially as someone close to the chaos – adds a personal touch to the conversation.
