Corey Taylor’s Take on Slipknot’s Albums

Reflecting back on how Corey Taylor viewed the band’s albums, it’s interesting to note that his opinions were shared before the release of “We Are Not Your Kind.” In a past interview with Noisey in 2015, Taylor also favoured the self-titled album. He shared vivid memories from that era, recalling the struggles and the raw, determined spirit of the band during its early days.

Corey recounted a particularly intense story about the band’s efforts to maintain artistic integrity. “We broke into the studio to retrieve our master tapes,” he said, detailing how he, Ross Robinson, Shawn “Clown” Crahan, and Joey Jordison were dissatisfied with initial mixes and took matters into their own hands. “We were living off 20 bucks a week, hiding our ramen from each other,” he added, illustrating the band’s gritty beginnings.
