Keeana Kee “Tik Tok”: The Ultimate Summer Anthem Groover City
I’ll tell you straight what happens when funk, disco and house jump in the same van, head for the desert, and decide the speakers deserve a proper recalibration. Oden & Fatzo return to Defected with Barney Bones for “My Temptations,” and the thing comes dressed like a summer problem you already know you’re going to enjoy.
I chase down and comply with this kind of mellow, and from the first seconds I got that familiar feeling: somebody opened the good cupboard. Filtered grooves, bass with a cheeky bounce, and that French-touch shine that makes everything feel expensive even when you’re wearing yesterday’s T-shirt. Oden & Fatzo know exactly what they’re doing.
Barney Bones shows up with his natural style and that vocal touch I was mad for in my 20s. Now things are getting wild. House music always needs that extra, and here it comes with a little what-the-hell-is-that and pockets full of attitude.
The press talks about French-touch flavour, funk-loaded basslines, and a dancefloor slap – and frankly, that’s exactly what it is. I feel the movement, but also the personality. From my experience, many dance records come slim and empty – like a fresh car wash with no one driving off. But “My Temptations” brings the shine, the alloys, the whole setup, and the ride is locked. What I liked most is the pair’s live-minded energy, while Barney Bones brings that LA cool feeling.
That mix took me back to why I love what I do. I caught myself checking the volume, running it back a couple of times. I know that type. I grew up on that type.
Now let’s talk about timing, because Oden & Fatzo come into this release with serious wind behind them. Their sold-out OUTERNET show in London put fresh fire under the album campaign, and Defected clearly sees them as part of the family now. See those key appearances lined up across the label’s impressive 2026 calendar. I’ve been watching these guys for a while, and you don’t get to 400 million streams by accident.
Oden & Fatzo built this step by step since 2015, taking house, disco, and funk into something marvellous. Three million listeners every month, radio support from BBC Radio 1, KISS, Capital Dance. That kind of spread tells you they’ve been doing something right for a long time. And they don’t work alone either. The list of collaborators reads like a solid headline: Camden Cox, THEOS, Noa Milee, Queen Rose… people who bring colour and real weight.
Barney Bones is an LA-based vocalist and writer who’s worked with names like Kaytranada, Channel Tres and DRAMA. He moves in disco house, and that’s exactly what I like – along with millions of others. So yes, I had fun with this one, real fun. I play it once for research, then twice for pleasure. If you did the same, now probably you’re moving like you’ve got a residency in Marseille.
