Andrea Oliva steps into Defected’s main room after years orbiting the family through DFTD, including that sharp 2024 remix of Renato Cohen’s Suddenly Funk. I remember rinsing that one more than planned. Now he plants his flag properly. And it feels earned.

Andrea Oliva: From Swiss Roots to Global Floors

Andrea Oliva built this the long way – teaching himself to DJ at 13, stacking white labels behind a record store counter, then earning residencies across Switzerland before the wider world caught on. Ibiza followed, then Europe, then the rest of it. The productions came in waves: Cadenza, Be As One, Desolat, Hot Creations. Beatport charts, Essential Mix moments, headline slots at ANTS and Elrow.

In 2015 he dropped 4313, a record that showed he thinks in strong concepts. I respect that. It takes nerve to stretch the canvas when the dancefloor already loves you. Now he tours like a man who packs light and plays heavy – Tomorrowland, Sonus, Boiler Room, BBC Radio 1.

Bensy: Culture in the Kick Drum

Bensy carries the energy of someone who grew up between cultures and chose to translate that into rhythm. Rooted in African heritage, he blends Gnawa percussion, soul textures and electronic structure with a natural sense of movement. Improvisation runs through his sets.

After winning Heineken’s Best DJ in Morocco in 2008, he stepped onto bigger stages alongside names like Tiësto, Roger Sanchez and Mark Knight. Paris then became home base. From there, he built a loyal crowd at the iconic Djoon and carried that identity across Ibiza, Dubai, Amsterdam, New York and beyond.
