The founders of Imagine Festival, Glenn and Maddy Goodhand, have announced the cancellation of the 2024 edition of the popular EDM event, citing inflation and escalating costs as the primary reasons. In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Maddy Goodhand shared that the financial strain had become unsustainable. “Prices kept going up and never went down,” she explained. “Our costs rose by 50% post-COVID, and we couldn’t justify passing that increase onto our ticket buyers.”

The Goodhands highlighted that the rising expenses associated with organizing the decade-old festival had made it challenging to achieve financial sustainability. Maddy noted, “With the infrastructure needed and round-the-clock security, the costs have become astronomical.”

Since its inception in 2014 as a two-day event in Atlanta, Imagine Festival has undergone several transformations, including a move to the Atlanta Motor Speedway and a shift to a camping format in 2016. Following a hiatus due to the pandemic, the festival relocated to Chattahoochee Hills, only to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. In 2022, it found a new venue at Kingston Downs in Rome, Georgia.

Looking ahead, the future of Imagine Festival remains uncertain. The Goodhands expressed doubts about its return to Kingston Downs. They are considering a potential 2025 comeback in Atlanta, albeit on a much smaller scale.
